Fungal infections
FUNGAL INFECTIONS
Fungal infections of the feet come in many shapes and sizes. Two common forms most often treated are athlete’s foot, or tinea pedis, and fungal nail infections. Sometimes fungal infections go untreated as they are mistaken for dry skin, or the patient simply gets used to a difference in skin texture without realising they have an infection. Typical symptoms of athletes foot are are itching and loose white skin between the toes. Fungal nail infections often cause the nail to go yellow and sometimes to become thickened and brittle.
Fungal infections like warm, dark and moist places and your shoes are the perfect place for them to thrive.
They respond differently to treatment, depending on their type and severity. Treatment can be helped with simple remedies and a strict hygiene regime.
