Musculoskeletal treatments

Cannon Barn Podiatry & Pain Clinic is a centre of excellence for musculoskeletal treatments

Musculoskeletal treatments are those that involve treating the skeleton and muscles. Poor posture and gait affects our skeleton and muscles, and our skeleton and muscles impact the way we walk. Bio-mechanics is the study and treatment of the way we move.

Biomechanics helps with a number of musculoskeletal problems including plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinopathy.

Left alone, poor posture and gait creates wear and tear that increases pain and the risk of developing future problems that can have an effect on other areas of the body. A biomechanic assessment  will result in advice to help improve movement, reduce pain and also reduce the risk of future problems.

Heath has a particular interest and experience in bio-mechanics and musculoskeletal conditions of the lower limb and often helps patients who have been referred to him by fellow professionals throughout Cornwall and Devon.

BIO-MECHANIC ASSESSMENTS

Within an assessment, we will look at the function of your feet both in non weight bearing and weight bearing stance. We will assess the range of motion within the foot and ankle to assess whether any reduction in this movement is having an impact on you or your injury. In order to help with any issues we may utilise treatments from our podiatry toolbox to get you back on your feet and make you more comfortable in doing the things you want to do. This in some cases may utilise the use of orthotics, but only if needed. Here at Cannon Barn Podiatry & Foot Pain Clinic, we are able to offer a fully bespoke orthotic service as well as using a high quality semi bespoke device to suit your budget. You will not be pressured into having orthotics and your injury or discomfort may be dealt with by using an exercise regime to build up strength and flexibility or by giving footwear advice. Here at the clinic we are able to offer sports taping and foot mobilisation to help with pain reduction or to increase mobility within the joints of the foot and ankle, helping your feet to regain some normality to its job of keeping you moving.

Whatever your condition or pain, if it affects your lower limb then we will do our best to help you get back to a great quality of life as soon as possible. Everything that will be undertaken will be in complete agreement with the patient and explained as fully as we possibly can.

Here at Cannon Barn Podiatry we utilise the most up to date technology in creating Custom Orthotics and use 3D Technology with the latest software and production techniques to produce the most comfortable fitted orthotic for your feet.

After suffering general foot pain for some time. I visited Heath at his lovely clinic. I had treatment including foot mobilisation which helped my stiff feet. So grateful.
